A gaming buddy of mine is a dentist he named his characters after dental terms and equipment and brand names.

He had Kavo the dwarf, Denton the mage and Dakon the might a cleric of St Cuthbert.

My wife uses our book of baby names to come up with new names. Myself I either pick a basic nationality that I intend to use for roleplaying inspiration and then pick an appropriate name or just use a combination of first/last name from some of my coworkers. Considering that I work in a place where we have over a thousand employees, all of whom I am responsible for knowing and managing I like using some of their names as we have some really interesting names of people that I work with covering basically every nationality of the planet.

The Beast would NOT die in combat DannyAlcatraz! You take that back right now!
Was it Beast the Red, his rival twin Beast the Blue, or the more enigmatic Northerner Beast Ice? In my experience any time you think youve killed the Beast he just shows up again stronger in a couple of hours.

The Internet Movie Database is an excellent resource for names. Pick a TV show that's likely to have names with the sound your after and click on the "episodes cast" link on the left. Then you've got a list of every bit character that ever appeared for inspiration. And if the character names don't do it, you've got all the interesting actor names as well.

Want something greek/roman? Check out Xena or Hercules

Something alien or exotic? Star Trek TNG or Babylon 5

Plenty of strange and interesting names in the Dr. Who cast list. But I'll warn you- after scrolling thru that one for a bit, "Dalek" starts to look like a really good name. :p

And those are just some of the more obvious shows off the top of my head. There are tons more that were filled with cool names. Check it out and post your best ones.
