A peek inside September's new starter set.

There's a new Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set, titled Heroes of the Borderlands, coming in September. WotC has given us a quick peek at what's inside! The set is designed to be replayable, and comes with maps and cards, which are presumably part of the tile-based character creation system WotC has hinted at recently. The video doesn't reveal much else, but we should have more information over the coming months.

I don't like that keep map at all.
Yea, the exploration maps still look to cartoonish. I wish they would start making them look realistic for better immersion. Also, the buildings in the common folk populated part of the keep are all flat tops with crenelation, to provide defense from above, aside of the church. That's why you are made to weave around as you go inside.

From what I can tell, thus far, Kobold, Mimic, Owlbear, Gelateous Cube, Wight, Carrion Crawler, Minotaur, and Giant Spider are confirmed from what I can tell on the pictures of the tokens. Not sure what some of the others are off hand. It does mention a goblin in the blurb. There's also a Red Dragon Wyrmling. It has all the way up to Cave J on one of the maps for the caves of Chaos.

It appears Farmer is one of the backgrounds.

There are supposedly 8 character class boards, so I imagine either 2x each of the 4 Base classes (Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, and Rogue), OR...and this would be great...8 different classes.

This is from the Pics that are coming up now with previews of the Starter Set in pre-orders and elsewhere.

I think Todd Kenreck's video states that exactly. I believe he said his wife worked on the set.
I'm not trying to pick on you, because I see this all the time, especially in headlines. Whenever the partner/wife of a known personality, even if she's known as well, does something, it's always, "So-and-so's wife." It's never her name.

"George Clooney's wife represents Julian Assange." instead of "Amal Clooney represents Julian Assange."

I wish we wouldn't do that.

I agree with you on this generally, but ...

I had literally never heard of his wife before the video and she was brought up this way in his video, with him referring to her as his spouse and later as his wife. I included the mention because that's how he knows what's in the box -- he's married to someone with intimate knowledge of the boxed set's contents.

Looking for her name now, it looks like he regularly just refers to her this way. His wife is Meagan Kenreck, per his D&D in a Castle web bio.

Sure. I get it. And again, I'm not trying to pick on you because I see where you're coming from. More of an opportunity to bring it up in discussion in general.
