What's left on the CC after ToH...

BOZ

Creature Cataloguer
ok, with the release of the ToC for the ToH (ToB ToR ToM ToT, etc), we finally know what's going to be yanked off of this site to make the book. and in time, MM2 will also take out a chunk of what remains. and rumors strongly speculate that most if not all of the remaining fiend lords will go into the BoVD. and of course, a few of them are bound to pop up in dragon mag, and various modules and sourcebooks. but, aside from what goes into those WotC products, this here list is what we have left after the ToH.
now, i'm thinking it's a good bet that the MM2 will take berbalang, catoblepas, crimson death, demilich, some of the demons and devils, galeb duhr, the giants, hook horror, ixitxachitl, kenku, khargra, phoenix, sirine, sylph, water weird, and some others. but, in the meantime, here's the list. :) you'll notice a few things about it, and some do make sense. just about anything that is Ravenloft, Spelljammer, Forgotten Realms, or other currently and formerly published D&D worlds did not make it into the book. also, most things that were taken from Dragon magazine were also omitted.

Yeppers- the spitting snake is covered and so is the Haunt and Giant Clam. :).

The Living Wall is in the new Ravenloft Denizens of Darkness book, but I am not sure if we should move our version to the Creature Crypt or just leave it.

Kenku is in the new OA book and is called Tengu.

Giant Space Hamster is in the upcoming book....Dire Hamster.

Margoyle is in the upcoming book too, listed under Gargoyle with the Green Gargoyle and 4-armed Gargoyle.

i say thee nay! :) the tengu was an already-existing OA monster from at least 2E, if not 1E.

as far as the other stuff goes, cool! :)

Edit: d'oh! just noticed the haunt and margoyle in there - don't know why i didn't see em before!

Yeppers, but if you look in the Tengu description (page 194 in OA 3e) it says "In the featured campaign setting of Rokugan, tengus (also known as kenkus)..."

They have combined forces it appears.

As far as I am concerned the Kenku and the Tengu are not the same, if I remember correctly about the Kenku they're are not honerable at all, unlike the Tengu. they're probably related, but they're not the same (Kinda like Hill Dwarves and Duergar, similar but different enough). At least thats how I see it.

About the Ice Paraelemental, it can be found in the Manual of the Planes, (Together with Magma, Ooze and Smoke Paraelementals.)

Later,

i agree about the kenku/tengu thing.
as for the ice paraelementals, i was referring to the ones on the converted creatures page. :)

pin-yin v wade giles

um the names are virtually the same depending on who and when the word was translated ...

wether or not they are honorable can be as simple as world thing rather than seperate race ... then again the skills would be different, maybe HD and favored class ...

and all that stuff ... so yah it might be two different races just the same name ...

okay, I'm gonna go shut up now and go make dinner with my gf :) (mmm chicken, potatoes au gratin, rolls and corn ... although I want green beans)

By the way, I have never insisted that Scott pull content just because it is in the book (Tome of Horrors). I dont imagine he will. I dont care if it stays on line. The book has updated and corrected versions of the monsters and it has tons of new ones. I wouldnt require Scott to close the site he worked so hard on just to help the book. To me the book is gravy. I dont know what Scott will do with the site. That is up to him.
