You would not need to use the transmute to do this. Assuming you are level 10 with replicate item you could craft 4 sets of resistance armor or create 4 wands. The transmute is a once-a-day ability that lets you turn that armor or wand into another item. So once the wand was expended or if you didn't need that armor anymore you can swap it out for something else.

So they removed the "each of your infusions can be in only one object at a time" line?

While I have to agree that the core class is still lacking they boost to the subclasses bring the Artificer up to an average class.
Class/subclass balance has never been equal. Some classes rely on their subclass to do great things. Others less so.
Artificers have a lot of power/utility in their subclasses.
My armorer warforged in 5.14 was a moving tank. And with their homunculus a great utility character.

A famililar would probably have worked as well. But the homunculus is a bit more powerful.

Another fun facet of Artificers being "inventors" in the most air-quotes sense: the 2024 crafting rules require a character to have Arcana proficiency to make magic items. An Artificer doesn't automatically gain Arcana proficiency (they don't get any extra skill proficiency either, or any incentive to take it like other classes do).

This means it's entirely possible, even with the (significantly more limited) subclass features, to make an Artificer who is entirely incapable of actually crafting any magic item—meaning they are a worse inventor than any character with Arcana proficiency.
If you like to shoot yourself in the foot by not actually taking arcana, that is on you.
Manyfold tool is a common magic item. They can easily craft that.

But they added one or two different items. Depending how you read different, it is probably the upgraded version.
I doubt most players change more than an item per day anyways. Plus the transmute for a 3rd change.

It does feel a bit limited with the level 20 feature. If you sacrifice all your items, it takes several days to rebuild them.

Three days, max. It's probably worth sacrificing an item or two and heal yourselves and others up afterwards.
