I think that between Wand of Magic Missile and Spell Restoring Ring you have a good bump at 6th level as far as power goes. Use your spell restoring ring to get back a 2nd lvl spell slot, then transmute it into the wand then once you use all of the charges you can sacrifice it for another 2nd lvl spell slot. That still leaves you with 2 other items at 6th level. I just hope then increased rthe number of recipes known

Depends on which subclass, surely? Using that Wand might be an upgrade for an Alchemist, but a Battle Smith is getting two weapon attacks and an Artillerist wants to be able to trigger Arcane Firearm. Just shooting out a 1st level Magic Missile isn't better than what they already have. A Wand of Magic Missiles only comes out ahead if you're burning multiple charges, and that's going to run through it super fast.
 

So once you burn out you can once per day wither get a 2nd level spell back or trade it off for a new item. People need to think that some of your items are supposed to be temporary so you can cycle things out.

Bull. Absolute bull.

Obviously it's easy to just keep the original feature even with the new version of the class, but it's such a garbage change.

Between that and the loss of being able to ignore attunement requirements, it's just a less interesting class.

Except that requires you to pick an option for said feature that is temporary. There's plenty of items that provide non-limited benefits. Not to mention, a consistent figure across the UAs is Artificer getting much fewer items they can learn at any given level.

It's just a garbage design choice that some classes get features that want you to sacrifice your other class features for the sake of casting spells, especially when other classes get features that let them cast more spells without any sort of sacrifice—and those features are much stronger than recovering a 1st- (for Druids) or 2nd-level (for Artificers) spell slot.

Frankly, it really needs to be highlighted: the design direction of the Artificer is that you should take their most unique mechanic and value one spell slot over it.

So in my mind ai will always take spell restoring ring just like I will always take a wand so the fact that I can use up the wand or use up the ring and then swap it out is amazing. The fact that if I just chain them together once they are both empty I can get back a spell is nice. Compared with the 2014 that is a an extra 2nd level spell and a wand of magic missiles every day that I did not have before.

Now the only 8 recipes known is horrible unless you can change one out on a long rest or at least while at your bastion for those who use them. I would have gone the other direction and bumped it to gain a new one every level or made them like a wizards spell book where if you come across another artificer you can learn their recipes.
