What's the best potato?

The potato is great in many forms, but based on my current appetite, the winner is tots potato pancakes (at least if I get it right, that's the translation of German "Reibekuchen"). And I feel, the Swiss Rösti would fall into the same bucket.

Rosti/latkes/potato pancakes are awesome. I think by "tots" the OP was referring to "tater tots".

I struggled between several options (particularly tots and hashbrowns) before settling on steak fries, but even now I'm second guessing myself. I suppose my point is that I don't think there's a wrong answer here.

Except "Potato Salad." Which one of you voted for that?

For me it depends on the potato. Russet are great for mashed potatoes (especially when you make them with cream cheese and bacon bits), while red and yellow baby potatoes are really good roasted and spiced.
