What's the Best RPG Bargain You've Ever Gotten?

If it was not just RPGs, I did get a old school Talisman board game for 4 dollars at a garage sale. It came with; Expansion, Dungeon, City and Timescape. Same sale landed me an old Family Business, Dungeonquest and a Heroquest.

One day I also found a 75% complete set of battlemasters getting thrown out. Thankfully the garbage can was not too vile.

In 1988 I bought over 30 books and some 50 modules from a desperate Senior High School student for $20.00.....It filled in all of my little gaps in first edition AD&D including every cover that had been out! With the collection and mine together there were some doubles and even a few triples but definitely worth it. I have wondered if he was sorry and I even offered to sell them back at cost within a year if he changed his mind.....He said he wouldn't and then went to tryouts for the Nebraska Corn Huskers last I heard.

It might have cost me a good bit, but Tome of Artifacts was the best RPG bargain for a fan of artifacts like myself.

Most recent bargain: pdf file of True20 for free! [amazing no one else mentioned it yet...]

Also, The Complete Guide to the Fey from the recent Three Dollar Sale [I was going to pay nearly $15 at Amazon...glad I didn't!]

At a used book store I found Drow of the Underdark [my favorite product for years!] and several other 2E supplements for $2.50 each.

I am also pretty good at scouting out bargains, but those are the most memorable. I rarely pay full price for anything {May the Gods bless Amazon.com and Super Saving Shipping!}

Regrets: Not being able to afford Unearthed Arcana 3E when Amazon had it at 60% off. At least there's always the srd.

On the flip-side: I regret not waiting for a discount on Torg, which was an interesting game, but ultimately not worth $30+ to me. I have several regrets of this nature, which is why I always scout for bargains now.

That's a contender for the best bargain of the thread for mine.

You guys make me jealous. My big bargains:

1) one of the Jakandor books, on a clearance shelf a few months after 3e came out. I think it cost me around 30% list price - less than ten bucks, in any case.

2) Dark Sun campaign setting (the original) for fifteen bucks, used.

3) Monte Cook's Year's Best d20, for four dollars. Awesome value, there.

But I think the best bargain I've ever received would have to be the last twelve issues of dungeon magazine, purchased at retail value. Kinda cheezy to say, but there it is.

Nah, I think Diaglo's buying thousands of minis at 2 cents a pound would win it, for me.

Wik,

That would do it for most people. That said I am impressed you got the best of d20 for only FOUR dollars! :0 I mean that's a seriously good book. (not all of it but a vast majority I thoroughly liked.)

And got a copy of the 1E Deities and Demigods, with the Cthulhu and Melnibonean sections, for about $20.

My best deal ever was when Mouseferatu offered to sell me his 1E Deities and Demigods with Cthulhu and Elric for $20. I still can't believe what an incredibly swell guy he is. I'm totally taking him up on that.
