What's the best you've ever gotten for your buck in gaming products?

Dungeon magazine. Even with buying over 80 issues of it it still provides me withthe best bang for my buck. I have based probably 90% of my games off of stuff I have found in these mags and that has translated into hundreds, if not thousands of hours of entertainment. Add that to the simple pleasure of reading the magazine too...

Of course the core books of each edition saw use as well and they have to be acknowledged for the excellent resources they are.

Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil!

I have never run the module, but it has tons and tons of ideas, and has given me many new ideas to incorporate into my dungeons.

Lets see.. (using the broad definition)

Judges Guild versions of Wilderlands of High Fantasy and City State of the Invincible Overlord Been using these over 20 years now
Runequest2
3.5 Core rules - increasing gradually though my copy of the Pocket Players Handbook is getting more use these days as its so portable.

Amber, Diceless Roleplaying.
We played a campaign for over a year without a single additional purchase. That's something I can't imagine doing today.

3.0, 3.5 Core books - 3.5 is definitely overtaking the 3.0 stuff.

Warhammer fanatasy RPG setting - years of entertaining RPG when I was younger... still have a look at it every now and again.

Shadowrun 3rd edition - ran/played for years.

Munchkins Guide to Powergaming - helped our games 'grow up' a lot. And it's funny.

Most of the books I've really gotten a lot of use out of were 2nd ed books - for various reasons, I haven't been playing/DMing as much nowadays as I did then. For 2e, we have:
  • PHB, DMG, and Monstrous Compendium/Manual (I had both)
  • Night Below and Faiths & Avatars: I ran through about half of Night Below in one summer - then the group split up, so they never got to the kuo-toa city. I had nominally set it in FR, but the outside world wasn't as important so I'm not listing the 2e FR book. I did use the priest stuff from F&A, though, so that one gets credit.
  • Dark Sun: I ran a pretty long Dark Sun campaign as well, using mostly pre-published stuff. Good times.
As for 3e, the things I've gotten the most use out of are:
  • The 3.0 Core books: 3.5 is better, but I haven't played as much 3.5 yet.
  • Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil: I played this one a lot with a group out of town that I go visiting every now and then. I've gotten bored with the "ginormous dungeon" bit, though, so I'm a bit uncertain if I'll ever finish it.

In order of usefulness, from highest to lowest, my top ten most useful gaming purchases, dollar for dollar:

The 3.0 PHB
Counter Collection II
Tact Tiles
Dice
MM 3.0
EN World Community Supporter Account
Song & Silence (Don't laugh, I have two players who have used spells from this every session!)
Stone to Steel
Freeport Campaign Setting
3.5 PHB

Most bang for the buck?

(16 years worth)
Mentzer Red/Blue/Green/Black/Gold boxed sets.
X1 Isle of Dread
GAZ 1-14

(13 years worth)
Call of Cthulhu 5th edition.

(16 years worth)
AD&D 2e PHB, DMG, Monstrous Compendium
Dark Sun Setting
Planescape setting

A very abreviated list, but I'm at work.

none.

although i use my OD&D booklets all the time. they were still overpriced at the time of purchase.

there hasn't been a single product after their release that even comes close.
