Whats the go with shields?

Was there any real info on how shields work from the recent D&D XP?

I remember shortly after 4e was announced that there would be a difference between a "sword & board" fighter, over a "longspear dex" fighter.

So what do we know about the rules for shields? How do they know work differently to 3.5 rules?

I believe they add, to your Reflex save, which also adds to your AC.

I like the new shield rule, since it makes sense. You need good reflexes to block a strike, but having a better shield means you can be a tad slower since you have this large object to help in protecting you

The only fighter we saw was a Dwarven female Hammer & Board. She can use her shield to bash an opponent back 1 square.

Has this actually been confirmed?

From what I've seen, AC includes the same numbers that the reflex defense does, but that is NOT the same thing. For example, a power that adds to reflex defense may NOT add to AC.
