What's the most over-used magic item?

In 3.0 I'd say boots of striding and springing.

In 3.5 ... none, really.

Sure, everyone has a cloak of resistance, but that's not an 'overuse', like every fighter has a magic weapon and every spellcaster has some sort of caster attribute increase. That's just a natural use. Everyone wants and needs that stuff. Cure potions and wands are also common, as are rings of protection.

Maybe heward's handy haversack could count... Hmm...

Other than that our magic items are fairly diverse.

+1 weaponry of all sorts. Almost everyone prefers (specially in 3.5) to add special abilities instead of augmenting the bonus. The real favourites are Ghost Touch and Keen.

+1 armours/shields of all sorts

potions/wands of healing

stat booster items: Gauntlets of dexterity for swashbuckling and archer characters, Cloaks of Charisma for paladin and sorcerer characters, main spellcasting ability booster for spellcasters

+1 rings of protection, amulets of natural armor and cloak of resistance (this last one of various bonuses because it is less expensive)

Bracers of armor for monks, arcane spellcaster, rogue and ranger character type. (specially with the rule from Arms & Equipment Guide allowing bracers of armor to have armor special qualities enchanted)

Boots of Striding and Springing (specially because they were found/manufactured under 3.0 rules)

Ring of Counterspells (usually with Fireball or other mass damage spell)

Bag of Holding (used as a trap/dangerous-obstacle bypasser: everybody jumps into the bag of holding and the character most likely to avoid/survive the trap: monk, rogue... carries everybody to the other side safely.) This is the one I see most abusive. The other ones are just the typical items being used by the people that needs them more.

The answer is obvious.

Bag of Holding. (Or the Handy Heaversack... Any item that is bigger on the inside then it seems on the outside.)

Everybody has or wants at least one, without exception.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, it's just something you nearly always see in a moderate to high magic setting.

DITTO this

Most overused: The various potions of healing. Not that its a bad thing. Its a very sensiable item to be overused. I mean what adventurer wouldn't want to have healing magic on hand.

Now the party I think doesn't have any other exact matchs, although there is 2 bracers of armor and 2 rings of protection of different bonuses of the top of my head. But most of those were found in treasure and not bought
