What's the top level in your campaign world?

Dragonlance Adventures 1e

I personally take a page from the Dragonlance Adventures 1e book and cap all my games at 18th level. I've only had one run there so far. My players and I like the 3rd to 11th level or so range.

Converting over to C&C I'm making the effective 'top level' 12th, which is where most C&C PC classes top out.

I picture D&D worlds like giant pyramids with one top-level dude sitting on the peak.

They encourage other losers (ie. everyone else) to go out and kill things so they can rise in levels.

Once these losers hit the point where they can provide XP for our top-level dude, he swings in and kills them no-mercy-style.
