What's up with shuriken?

3.5e shurikens are a bit different. They can be drawn as a free action and used as a monk weapon for Flurry of Blows.

My 14th level character with 24 Str, Boots of Speed, two levels of monk (Flurry -2/-2) and two levels of ranger (two-weapon fighting) could theoretically hurl six of these per round, with 1d2+7 damage (and 1d2+3 for the one hurled with his off-hand attack). But he never does; there are better ways of dealing damage.

shuriken don't add strength to damage. they are too light.

As far as throwing a whole lot go... flurry, rapid shot, improved two weapon fighting, the palm throw from the master thrower... you could get a whole lot up there. Really though, the only good way to use them is poison.

They do in 3.5e. They didn't in 3.0, but that changed along with the "throw three per attack" thing. Basically, the only thing that's different about them now compared to other thrown weapons are that they're flurry-able, count as ammo, and can't be used in melee.
