does anybody know anything about the Charon I was going to use them in a Clone Wars campaign but don't want to if they are advance Vong scouts or something like that.

Charons

Alright, the best I can give ya is WEG's D6 Star Wars use of the Charons.

The adventure module was titled Otherspace and the Charons are basically insect/spider-like death cultists obsessed with the total destruction of the galaxy in general.

If I can find my old module, I'll post more.

They do have some conceptual similarities to the Yuuzhan Vong. However, the introduction of the Charon predate the Yuuzhan Vong by around a decade.

While the Vong seem at least vaguely mammalian, the charon were arachid/insects. Also, while the Vong were just from another galaxy (or maybe from the Star Wars galaxy, but exiled) the Charon were from a whole other plane of existence - the aforementioned Otherspace.

Also, while the Vong had some depth, the Charon were just death cultists - no ritualized honor system, pain obsession, or anything like that. They just wanted everything dead, period.

I used them in an old D6 campaign as a kind of bio-tech Borg. But, YMMV. Good luck - anybody familar with the expanded universe will inevetibly compare them with the Vong, and on that count they will come out lacking without some overhauling on your part.

However, like the Vong, that kind of threat really seems to remove the "star wars feel." But that's just me.

In the Ultimate Alien Anthology, there is another sect of Charon devoted to Life and peaceful coexistence among the species of the primary SW galaxy.

The Charon's origin is detailed in the D6 supplement Endgame, the final installment in the Darkstryder Campaign series.

I'm struggling to remember this, as it's been a long time, but in essence the Charon were originally created as one of many servitor races of some ancient, brilliant creator race on a planet out beyond the known galaxy. There was some great cataclysm that resulted in the creation of the Kathol Drift, a nebulae-like phenomenon that blocked most attempts to reach the world by space travel.

A whole bunch of Charon got shunted into a pocket dimension by the cataclysm, and ended up becoming psychopathic death cultists. They're basically an organic version of the Borg.

I love those guys.

I think it was actually the Kathol Rift, not the Kathol Drift - but apart from that, it sounds right to me. :)

They haven't appeared in any D20 supplements, have they?
