CG without a doubt. And I am a Cleric/Bard in RL so would probablly go with Corelleon Larethian in a DnD world with Community and Good as my domains.

So most folks around here self-identify as Neutral Good? Rousseau 1, Calvin 0...

I don't use alignment in my D&D campaigns, so it would be hypocritical of me to start using it in real life.

But if I worshiped a D&D god it would be Nadanya, also known as Nanya and Nonny Fancypants (he's from my homebrewed World of CITY). Nadanya is a pantaloon wearing Yeti who smokes and fancies himself the god of civilization.

And yeah, the poll may be taken too seriously. We should put up a disclaimer -- "This poll not a substitute for detect evil. Consult your Cleric. Do not smite!"

LOL. Indeed.

"O villain, villain, smiling, damned villain!
My tables,—meet it is I set it down,
That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain:
At least I ’m sure it may be so in ENWorld." - With apologies to The Bard

We should not be so quick to give the point to Roussea though, for we have the same delimma as telling the liars from the truthtellers. Logic dictates that both heroes and villains will tell us that they are heroes.

At least the evil people here, if they are serious about it, are honest in their perfidy. Or if they are not, then they at least better than they think they are and thier is some hope for them. And I've little cause to believe that a good portion of the society isn't indeed actively evil. Maybe it is only 5% here in our mostly enlightened corner of the world, but we've all met them - verbal abusers of thier children, abandoners of thier families, casual theives, casual liars, salesmen that lie to thier customers, employees that lie to their bosses, cowards, substance abusers, abusers of women, the socially manipulative, gossipers, serial and socially destructive promiscuity, vandalizers, racists, mysogynists, haters of men, continually in a state of wrath against neighbors or even strangers they've never met, and all sorts of other evil so petty and so common that we don't normally think about it. I'm inclined to think that most of the suffering in this world comes from the petty evil, and not the maniacal or diabolic comic book villain that has a hearty laugh over exterminating a rare song bird to make a few million. Perhaps the few that self-identify themselves as evil, are identifying with the archetypal villain and thinking that it would be cool to be 'the villain', but I'm more worried about the rest of us that are petty in our evil and even oblivious to it, than the guy that styles himself Darth Vader or some such.

Very well said.

I voted LG on the presumption that even LG allows for occasional failure. But that best describes the standard against which I measure myself, and what I attempt to live up to in practice. Not that I'm terribly good at it... but who is? I do try, though, by the grace of God. Also, I'm a knight (of Columbus)! :)

I'm curious as to how the various respondents understand themselves politically. I actually have a pre- conservative/liberal view of politics: I don't think the state exists to promote security, wealth or pleasure. I think the state exists to promote virtue. I know that due to forum policies we're not allowed to discuss particular issues, though.

Jeez when you put it like that I sound like an :):):)hole!

Kind to animals, children, and the elderly, known to donate to charitable causes, do volunteer work, try the make the world a nicer place (if not always successfully) -- I'd label me "Good".

Pay my taxes on time, regularly break the speed limit, sometimes jaywalk and other minor offenses, write diatribes against "unjust laws", yet follow many in the main -- I'd label me "Neutral".

Takes care of matters, in a very, very vague, very, very broad swathe... ;)

I voted Lawful Neutral, ;) but I slide into Neutral  and Good :) sometimes. Not necessarily at the same time. Every now and again, I'm downright Evil, :] though, and I have ADD, so even though my intent might be Lawful, sometimes I start doing something before I realize. :heh:
I'M SO CONFROOOSED!!!!!!!
