I don't consider the Monster Manual really up for review, but I think the Fiend Folio, MMII, and Tome of Horrors are quite good. The only real problem I have with the ToH is that recently, with my group needing about CR 15 monsters, is that the ToH has nothing of the sort. I'm also not too keen on the templates in it, but meh.

Omitting the ones I've written for (GF Monsters, Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary, Creature Collection III) I'd have to say Minions Complete, full color wierd high fantasy creatures for 3.5 in a well done pdf.

I have a ton more though

3.0 MM
d20 Menace manual
Jade Dragons and Hungry Ghosts
Book of Fiends
Denizens of Dread (3.0)
Encyclopedia of Angels
Bestiary of Loerem
Elemental Lore
Legacy of Dragons
Terrors of the Twisted Earth
Book of Templates
Deluxe Book of Templates
Bane Leger
That kids coloring book pdf
Lunar Knights

And yet there are so many more I still want.

Oft neglected, I find some of the smaller monster books, though not the singiluarly most useful monster books, have an usually usability for the cost and size. In particular, I am getting a lot of use out of GR's Monsters of the Mind and FFG's Necromantic Lore.

Can Legacy of Dragons be used without any conversion in a standard D&D game?

They use 3.0 facing and a few custom skills (hide and move silent are collapsed into sneak) but are basicly d20 compliant. I haven't gone over the stats in there yet to see if they use 3.5 feat and skill numbers yet or how they handle DR.

I bought it but haven't read it yet. My gut would say any discrepancies for use in straight D&D would be minor at most.

Just as it says; what's your favorite monster book?

I enjoyed reading Monsternomican best, but in terms of use MM3.5 is number one. I haven't had a chance to check out Penumbra Fantasy Beastiary or Legacy of Dragons yet, but from what I've heard they will be high on my list.
