What's your favorite monster book?

I've got a ton of monster books, but I'd have to say my favorite might actually be the one with the fewest monsters in it -- The Monsters Handbook, by Fantasy Flight Games.

It's basically a big book of suggestions for modifying other creatures you already have. The guidelines were very flexible and very well thought out. More than any of the others, it really got my imagination burning again.

for current edition(s)? I'd have to say MM 3.5 for it's sheer utility.

All time, the Monstrous Compendium idea. If only the sheets had a reinforced section for the punched areas. . . . It was a great idea with all it's appendices and customizability, not to mention how cool it was to be able to take out the pages.

Is the Fiend Folio updated to 3.5? And I don't mean in one of the WotC documents. How do I know which is which between the 3e and 3.5e versions?

3.5 SRD. Most of the pictures in the 3.0 MM will suffice, so I haven't spent the $$$ on the new edition. Although I probably will someday, drooling fanboy that I am.

My favorite RPG book (monster collections or otherwise!) is the Draconomicon. I'm not sure that it counts in this "poll" though, since most of the actual monster-material are reprints...

Other than that I agree with a lot of the posters here; the Monster Manual 3.5 is brilliant. It has all the staple monsters, good layout, nice illustrations (mostly) and a more than decent presentation of each entry.

The Fiend Folio is also very good, but Monster Manual II was a huge disappointment to me. It's hardly seen use at all...

The Books of Fiends have a lot of really cool meanies and plenty of good ideas for how to use them, but unfortunately they also have way too many errors... :\

Oh, and whoever praised the creatures from MotP; I agree! There's not all that many of them, but they're all very good! :D

For me my all time favorite monster book has to be Monsternomicon. I do like Minions 3.5, Kalamar's Dangerous Denizens, Legacy of the Dragons, and Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary as well. ToH is alright, but while the amount of creatures in it is huge, it still feel light on content. Hopefully ToH2 will do a better job of providing more than just monster stats. That's where the Monsternomicon excelled. Plot hooks, interesting set-ups for each creature, as well as information on how each creature fits into the world.
