Ok moving along...we've already had a poll on do you exclusively play a race, but this is a bit more general. I'm going to include a few nonstandard but frequently played races. Also each race includes subraces...you can post to specify :-)
Me I've played a grey elf and an aasimar as my too "real" characters that I played for a meaningful length of time. I tend to like elf, half elf, human and aasimar.

Primarily elf, but when I feel the need for somthing different, I turn to dwarves.

I was surprised that so many people exclusively played humans, when I did that poll.

Yes I found it rather disturbing myself. I mean I like human...but the whole racial sterotype thing's not a problem for me as I like most of the sterotypes of most of the races...i will play a gnome one day also.

.....at first level.

They do not have access to the racial pretige classes and weapon styles. LVL20 Human Fighter vs. LVL 20 Elven Fighter Chorus Bladesong (average race stats.)

Elf Wins.:p

Humans all the way.

It's all about the extra feat and bonus skill points. All the races are fun for some things, but NOTHING beats a human at first level.

Tell that to my current 1st level dwarven fighter... he's already beat four first level humans (two pc's, and one was a monk!) unconcious with his bare hands! Only five sessions into the campaign.

Edit: Truncated sig.

Um... don't you think that there are just as many PrC's that require being human as require being elven? (I can't think of many for any other race.) Red Wizard comes to mind, as does Dwomerkeeper and I think Hathran (but I don't have my books on me to check).

In general I play humans. As far as racial abilities go, I prefer the humans' abilities to every other race. For me, it's also easier to get myself into character playing a race I know something about.
