When disagreeing…

Sometimes people disagree on the internet. I know! Shocking, amiright? Now when this happens it’s very easy, trivial really, to just tell the people you disagree with how wrong they are. I approve of this, encourage it even, however I would like to see some different openings to these disagreeing posts. Below I’ll offer some suggestions, feel free to make some of you own.

• I see your point, but…
• That’s a great thought, however…
• I understand what you’re saying, nevertheless…
• I see what you mean, on the other hand…

Try one of these out the next time you feel someone to be mistaken in their opinions.

Problem with that is it’s so well known now that everybody knows you’re doing it, which makes it worse instead of better.

My English teacher freshman year of high school always made a point to never turn a paper back to a student without something positive or encouraging on it. She was also rather stern and disinclined to giving unearned compliments. Lots of my papers in freshman English came back with "nice typing" on them.
