This is a truely awesome find. Makes me wonder if a D&D player out there perfected time travel. ;)

Several polyhedra in various materials with similar symbols are known from the Roman period. Modern scholarship has not yet established the game for which these dice were used.

Caesars and Coliseums...? ;)

Too bad I don't have $4,000 - $6,000 to spend to get it. :(

And at a little over two inches, that's IMO a nice size die.

I have a clear glass replica made by the Met. Its pretty cool, I use it as a paperweight. I hope whoever bought it paid less than 4000.
