When you need to be small...

My party recently came to a section of dungeon where the corridors were all 2 1/2 feet wide. This mean that medium creatures lost their dex bonus while squeezing through the tunnels. My PC, a fighter/wizard who usually enjoys polymorphing into a troll, was at a loss, as he hadn't thought of needing a small form.

So my question is this: are there any forms which are small, use equipment, and have decent physical stats? (Not 10s or less in Str, Dex, and Con, such as the average halfling or gnome.)

Also, would Reduce have helped me in this situation? If so, would I have kept my medium-sized stats, even though I was smaller and thus able to move through the tunnels without losing my dex bonus?

Thoughts and suggestions would be great!!

That sounds familiar. I have a module currently in production at Monkey God Enterprises--it's called "The Hero Snare" and should be out in a few months--that uses that same technique. Anyone who likes this idea might want to check it out; I've got an entire system of penalties for people trapped in corridors too small for them.
