Whence two-weapon fighting?

Since TWF is probably the way rangers deal hot DPR combined with HQ, it is unlikely other non-strikers will get TWF. To get the rapier/main gauche with the current classes it looks like ranger. We'll have to wait for a swashbuckler class to get a non-woodsy martial class with TWF.

Actually, no. We have seen the "opening spread" for the Rogue. I believe the Rogue entry is about 15 pages long in the PHB.

Those 15 pages would be the powers and paragon paths. We've been shown the class and all the class features. All thats left is the optional choice material- powers and feats.

And we know that the multiclassing feats ARE the extent of multiclassing in 4e, and they don't allow you to pick up the ranger's class proficiency in two-weapon fighting.
Really?

Besides the option to multiclass instead of choosing a Paragon path, I'm not sure we've really seen all of the class training feats. There might be one that grants you the ranger's proficiency in two-weapon fighting.

It's also pretty likely there'll be a feat that grants (some) proficiency in two-weapon fighting.

You might want to take a look at the Skeletal Tomb Guardian from the DDM Dungeons of Dread set. Granted, it has 4 weapons, but the RPG stats have a "Twin Scimitars" ability as a standard action which grants two basic attacks. I think any TWF will take the form of a power like that one, though of course whether it is available to anyone other than a ranger is unknown.

Why can't a rogue take the ranger multiclass feat and then select ranger powers that involve 2 weapons? This is only a guess, but the ranger's two-blade style or whatever it is called probably gives some sort of benefit to the ranger when using powers that involve two weapons (just as the rogue's brutal scoundrel gives extra benefits with sneak attack and certain rogue powers), but it is likely not required to use two-weapon powers.

I would expect something like that:

feat:
you may make a basic attack with a weapon in your offhand as a minor action.

Ranger:
powers that let you attack with two weapons at once

TWF path: you get extra bonuses when using such powers...
