Where are the Unarmed Combat rules?

Happily, the rules explicitly allow that. PHB pg 66, col 1:

"Many martial powers, as well as several divine powers, can be used only if you’re wielding a weapon. (You can use an unarmed attack as your weapon.)"

Nice rule pull. Bravo.

As far as the feat goes, weapon proficiency (unarmed) would cause the character to gain the +2 proficiency bonus, and allow his unarmed attacks to be considered weapons.
Except that they're already considered weapons, so having the feat do that would be rather pointless.

I'm just thinking that one feat that grants a proficiency bonus and and increase in damage dice would be overpowered compared to all the other feats. So we'd need at least two feats - one to give the proficiency bonus and one to increase the damage (with the first as a prereq of the second).

A feat to increase the die sized of unarmed attacks would be broken if you could take it multiple times to stack it.
Yeah true. Not sure if it will become obsolete once the monk is out, though. Cos we don't know if the monk will come out at all really. Yes, they've said they're going to do a ki power source, so it probably will come out, but it might be totally different from the 3e version.
