D&D 5E Where can I find Informaion on 5E Potions?

Just to ward away confusion, potions require an action to use and the potion of invisibility requires concentration, as (no concentration required) is not listed within its description. But, yes, crafting cost and time required is rather prohibitive. Maybe if the PCs have too much gold and too much time.

The Potion of Invisibility does not require concentration.

Its effect is not to allow you to cast the Invisibility spell (which would require concentration unless stated otherwise). Its effect is simply to turn you invisible.

I wonder why the potion of speed, gaseous form, and enlarge/reduce potions specifically call out that concentration is not required, if that's the case?

Briefly-

A potion can have an effect that is a spell effect, or not. Let's use "flying" as an example.

If the potion says (pace gaseous form) that it gives you the effect of a "fly" spell, then it defaults to the DMG rules re: duration, casting, concentration.
If it just lets you fly without referencing a spell, it doesn't. Since the potion lets you fly, without explicitly invoking a spell, it does not require concentration.

Clear?

So there's three types of potions when it comes to concentration-

1. Those that mention a spell explicitly. These require concentration if the spell requires concentration.

2. Those that mention a spell explicitly, but state "(no concentration required)". These do not require concentration.

3. Those that do not mention a spell explicitly, or do not state you are gaining the effect of a spell. These do not require concentration.

Make more sense now? Apply this taxonomy to invisibility.

I suppose when crafting potions not present in the DMG, the DM needs to make the call whether a potion reproducing a 'concentration effect' requires concentration or not. Frankly, I'd rather craft the version not requiring concentration.

I could've sworn there was an official tweet or something saying that potions of invisibility (etc.) did require concentration; can anyone find it, or am I dreaming?
