Where can I find stories of Faerunian Gods?

reveal

Adventurer
In my campaign a paladin of Ilmater, specifically a Companion of the Noble Heart, has died and been resurrected. I am trying to come up with something that occurred while he died. My idea is for Ilmater to tell him a story/tale that will inspire him to continue his ways (he has been doubting his faith a little) of worshipping Ilmater.

My problem is that I cannot find anything online to do with the history of Ilmater that has anything to do with what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of any good parables or tales of Faerunian gods? I am not looking to re-write Faerunian history, which is why I am looking online first before making something up.

That and I'm just really, really lazy...

well, reveal, i just did a google search on the word 'ilmater', and it gave me 2,260 links

another place you might look is Faiths and Pantheons (i'm not sure, though, i've never read it)

I also did a search on Google. I spent about 3 hours this afternoon looking through the results. Mostly, I find information about the god himself, not about his avatars or historical events he has been part of.

Also, I have Faiths and Pantheons and I didn't find anything in there either.

Basically, posting here has been a last resort after finding nothing myself.

i just looked through some of my 1e and 2e stuff, too. there really hasn't been much written about any of the gods that came to be after the Nether Age, at least not what you're looking for.

FR novels are really the exception. but unless there's been a major character in a FR novel who was a follower, cleric or paladin of Ilmater, the kind of tale or parable you want may not be in a published work

sorry i couldn't help

Ilmater seems to be pretty underrepresented in FR with regards to novels and stories. You are probably on your own as far as making a story.

Could always do a variant of the Little Engine that Could. Ilmater is all about martyrdom and perseverence. Think of all the cliche stories about your parents walking to school through the snow with no shoes and it being uphill both ways.

Shouldn't be too tough to put something together.

Thanx for the suggestion! :)

My wife had a pretty good idea. Since the Companions of the Noble Heart are a more "militant" sect of the worshippers of Ilmater, she suggested I look into stories of the Shintao Monks and edit them accordingly.

I tried that as well. But, as before, it only has things on the gods themselves, physically, nothing to do with their lives or stories about them.
