Wow, am I the only dm that has giants working in the forges, humungous looms for weaving, giants with pens of sheep, etc??
This stuff is all imc.
I do that too, I thought it was a given but I guess not. Nothing wrong with cloud and storm giants having giant silkworms is there?
Frost giants would keep dire mountain goats or other such critters and have their slaves weave wool for them. Iron mined for their weapons. I don't see that as an issue at all since they aren't as particularly stupid as their hill giant cousins (who now aren't much bigger than ogres).
Hill giants always seem to be depicted in crude green skins, caveman style or with slightly better gear, patchwork ect. Dire cave bears are certainly big enough to make a crude hill giant sized bearskin cloak. Remember, before this nonsense of small, medium and large weapon sizes, a two handed sword made a serviceable longsword for a hill giant.
Frost, Fire and Stone Giants have int of 10. Average human intelligence equals average human tech level in my book.
Certainly smart enough to make their own clothing and weaponry. Storm and Cloud Giants are smarter and have better taste than the rest of their cousins. Perhaps they watch bravo in their seers crystal ball to get fashion tips, who knows.
The Edit:
Ok, I had to look it up because I was feeling a case of stupid coming on. Sure enough the stat blocks for the various core giant races say:
Fost Giant: Craft (any one) +6
Fire Giant: Craft (any one) +6
Cloud Giant: Craft (any one) +11
Storm Giant: Craft (any one) +13
So there is your answer, for frost, fire, cloud and storm they make their own stuff if necessary.
Only Hill and Stone giants are without a craft skill. Even so one could assume that they could force others to make their clothes, lest they grind their bones to make their bread.
