Where have I seen this exotic weapon before?

Essentially, it's a bow with blades at each end, allowing it to be used as both a ranged and (double) melee weapon.

Um...yeah. I know, I know.

The thing is, I'm dying trying to remember where I encountered the weapon before. I've gone through every WotC book and magazine I own (which isn't saying much)...to no avail.

Ridiculous! Now if you attach a 10 ft. long spear to the front of it so that it would have reach and a whip on the bottom of it, then you would have a real weapon.

I think you meant 'spiked chain' instead of whip.
I think the bow in question was in the 2nd Edition Handbook of Elves, or some such. The red faux-leather print softcover had a lot of woodland-type equipment in there. Either there or the Arms and Equipment guide (2nd edition) with the blue cover.

I dunno, but it would have to be a Shortbow with dagger-sized blades. Otherwise it would be too large and/or dangerous to use.

Didn't the elf armies from LOTR have bladed bow like weapons that they flipped forward to slice enemies once they fired their arrows?
Haven't seen the movie in a while so I could be recalling two different scenes with two different weapons.

I believe it is an Elven Blade Bow from Scarred Lands. It is a weapon of the Elves that live in the Hornsaw forest.

Looks like you're right: I just checked in the Player's Guide to Fighters & Barbarians and there it is: the Razorbow.

I can die now.

Thanks guys.
