Does it have to be good? If your standards for it are low, I'm all over it.
Well... I essentially have to get an A or I don't get credit. Stupid Honors program. Someone needs to slap all freshman and tell them that, despite what the honors coordinator tells them, they DO NOT want to be an Honors student! It's not fun and will only cause you anguish and heartache!

Can you not get out of the Honors program?

Probably, but that means that I would have done a bunch of work for nothing. I'd rather suck it up now than give up on all of the stuff that I did in the past for the program. I'm just whining. ;) :)

Oh, okay. I realized the Honors program was an unnecessary headache very early in my college career, so I just stopped taking those classes. The Honors classes apply to whatever credits I need to graduate, so it wasnt' a waste of time because I just had more interesting classes than everyone else.

"... I'm going to have to do what over the next few semesters? And the benefit is they write 'Honors' on my diploma? ... Um, no."

Since then, I've considered rejoining the Honors program because, really, there was one benefit--meeting intelligent people. Not to say all the people in the Honors program are intelligent, but it's easier to find intelligent people there.

At American University, almost all departments have a "capstone" or thesis they have to complete before graduation. Being an honors student just means that I have to complete it with a B or higher to get credit. However, my scholarships require me to maintain a 3.5 GPA and I'm teetering on the edge of a 3.4... so - in the end - I pretty much have to get an A.

School bites.

Most of the departments in my school had that requirement too. Thankfully, the NSM department is one of the exceptions. :D So the Honors program really wasn't worth it for me.

School does bite. A big chomp, maybe? My job is an ego boost because it shows pretty decisively that I'm more competent than people who got their degrees a long time ago.

For some reason the theme from "The Love Boat" is now going through my head...
