Where on Greyhawk do you run?

My main game has the party based in the Duchy of Urnst. While it's relatively peaceful and plentiful there, it's close to lots of action and adventure ... the Cairn Hills and the Free City to the west, the Nyr Dyv to the north, the Bright Desert to the south and, the party's current destination, the Celadon Forest (currently having some troubles with raiders from Nyrond and a rather nasty green dragon) to the southeast.

Secondary games are occuring in the Yatils, Geoff and Ulek.

I ran a six-year campaign in Greyhawk taking the characters from levels 1-14 (actually, those who survived were level 15 by the end). It began in the Sheldomar Valley (mostly the Uleks) but eventually became centered in Furyondy. While Iuz and Turrosh Mak of the Pomarj were the immediate and most visible threats, Tharizdun (through his followers) was the key antagonist of the campaign. The party travelled far and wide in the western Flanaess, but never spent much time east of Greyhawk City.

Really, there's no place in Greyhawk that I wouldn't enjoy setting a campaign, though.

The one semi-long term game I ran in Greyhawk (right at the end of 2nd ed) was set in a corner of Veluna called "the Vale." I actually used the maps right out of the "Eye of the Wyvern" and the "[Something] of the Minotaur" Fast Play books as their hometown, and they branched out, eventually getting as far as Greyhawk where we played through the Star Cairns.

Good times! Though I'm a homebrewer at heart, I do love me some Greyhawk.

Hey,

Go for someplace different and exotic like Ket or The Scarlet Brotherhood. There's also Irongate which was detailed in a Dragon mag within the last year or two.

Over the 27 years my campaign has been going (continuous timeline, thought there have been many different groups that have made their mark on that timeline) I've had players visit almost every region in the World of Greyhawk. But the regions I've used the most (and links to info on my website where I've posted a ton of info about those regions) are the City of Greyhawk and the City of Melkot. I've also written several articles with Erik Mona about the City of Greyhawk in the old Living Greyhawk Journal, if you can get your hands on copies.

Oddly enough, while I've done alot of development work on the City of Irongate region, not only helming the Irongate Project on my website I just linked to, but also co-authoring the Dragon Magazine article in Issue #351 just mentioned in a previous post, my players have never visited the city. I think they're due for visit! I'm more then ready for them. Bwaahahahaa!!!!

My current game (going on 18+ months) is set in the County of Ulek.

Have set previous games in the Great Kingdom & See of Medegia; City of Greyhawk; and the Vesve Forest.

Cheers!

I recommend Ratik. It's a nearly civilized outpost caught between the mountains, the sea, the barbarians, and the shattered remnants of the Great Kingdom. Adventure hooks abound.

Hi,

My long-running campaign is mostly set in Freeport (in the middle of the Azure Sea) and the Principality of Ulek, but has also involved trips to Hepmonaland and Rokugan (to the far west).

Cheers

Richard
