Where would you hide your phylactery

I'm going to steal someone else's answer:

Take a Bag of Holding.

Go into a Anti-Magic Field.

Open Bag of Holding - now non-magical.

Insert phylactery into Bag of Holding's normal space.

Exit Anti-Magic Field.

So how do you get out of the Bag of Holding when your body reforms?

Use a wish to create a workroom 500' under my lair. Put backup spell books (gonna need those) and backup handy items there. Toss a few traps in for good measure. Find a way to protect from divinations as best as possible (an amulet of non-detection might work well here). Call it good.

Ideally have a fake one in the room in a visble place and hide the real one (the doorknob thing is brilliant)

Given a Lich's unnatural longevity, I would make the phylactery look like a rock, then bury the rock and plant a tree (redwood or something similar) over the location, as well as essentially plant an entire grove of similar trees in the area. Then I would allow a sect of druids to setup camp in the area (very able guardians, and not what adventurers would expect to battle).

It depends on what intrepetation of the rules you use. If you use "anything goes" you basically acknowledge that any lich is realistically unkillable because they can do crazy things with their phylacteries that you can never find/destroy, at least not without using dozens of wishes or specially developed epic spells.

Since there are liches you will NEVER see any standard "oh magic box! its a phylactery!" phylacteries......you will get funny things like a stone hidden in the waters of the styx or something equally crazy.

Within the structure of the main bar in a house of Ill Repute. "Hi ladies ... I'm back!"

Within a cloistered cnovent. "Hi ladies ... I'm back!"

Within the crypt of the major Lawful Good temple where all the past high priests are burried.
