Where would you hide your phylactery

Blightersbane
Oh dear, Proctological humor aside I have nothing

I am very disappointed that it took as long as 18 posts to arrive at this one..... I thought it was an obvious answer that at least deserved reference (like Blightersbane politely achieved) embedded

I had this sudden vision of Christopher Walken as "Captain Kas"...

"So Vecna hid his Phylactery in the one place he knew he could hide something—his a$$. Five long years, he wore this Phylactery up his a$$. Then when he "died" because of some meddlesome kids, he gave me the Phylactery. I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my a$$ for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the Phlyactery to you."

Paraphrasing Pulp Fiction, of course.

I'll bet, but according to Monster Manual, the phylactery costs 120,00gp and 4,800xp to create. So wouldn't that be an actual 120,000gp and 240 days? You'll be even more pissed then.
If that were the case, I sure would be, but if it's 120k gp, then its 120 days, 4800 xp and 60k Gold.

Isn't it double that, because you create an item for 1/2 the GP cost, but the full time of the value. e.g. An item which would cost 4000 market value costs you 2000, but still takes 4 days. Ergo does the lich's phylactery take 240 or 120 days and does it cost 120 or 60 days? And the xp cost?

OK I just looked it up. That's the "to create" cost and I was thinking it was market cost.

It would thus take 240 days, cost 120k GP and 4800 XP which is strange since it doesn't match up with established parameters. (for cost vs. exp ratio)

I guess it doesn't really have a market value. No one would buy someone else's phylactery.

So how do you get out of the Bag of Holding when your body reforms?

What makes you say you'd reform in the Bag of Holding?

The question, when reforming, is not "Where is the Phylactery?" It's "Has the Phylactery been located and destroyed?"

If the Phylactery has not been located and destroyed, the Lich reappears a few days after his death. The location of the Phylactery when that occurs is not relevant.

Wow that's kind of strange. I know I've read before that a lich must reanimate the bones of a corpse and the phylactery has to be located within a certain radius of them. (Hence my whole dropping through a portal in to a graveyard thing I wrote up)

Oh..I don't know...you could try to blackmail the lich or something...

"Nice Phylactery...wouldn't want anything tooooooo...HAPPEN to it!"
