Wherefore the Lords of Madness?

Whizbang Dustyboots

Gnometown Hero
So, the new cover is posted, and it's a break from the wrap-around covers of the previous two hardback monster books, and no longer is the deluxe art treatment being hyped. Maybe this changed at the same time as the name did, I dunno.

My question, though, is why? I liked the Codex Anathema name, and while the art didn't blow my skirt up, it seemed more fitting and creepy than the current cover which, while nice, is sort of generic.

Anyone know the origin of the change? And does this change signify trouble for the monster book line? I was under the impression that the first two had sold gangbusters, which would have suggested good things for future entries in the line.

Dangit, I want WotC to put out a giants book, a non-cutesy fay book and a genies/elementals book ...

I don't know what to make of the new cover. On one hand, it's a whole lot better than the old one. On the other hand, it's a break from tradition and I absolutely hate having different books in a series that look differently.

I really don't want to know what Illithid love looks like. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's illegal where I live, and probably popular in seedy japanese animation. Beyond that, I'm not speculating on 'hot hot hermaphroditic abberation love'.

I am looking forward to this book, hopefully this will cover a lot of stones that have been unturned in years past. Draconomicon was great concise and made perfect sense. Libris Morris was a little more vast I would have liked see it have the same format but still very useful none the less.

The Cover looks great and I am excited about it.

There is demand for a book of pretty dragon pictures.

I'm pretty sure there isn't demand for a book of pictures of aberrations. I'm not surprised the art-intensive theme has gone.

I really like the new cover, btw.

Cheers!

Actually, if I recall, the art thing went out with the coffeetable book idea. Draconomicon still had some remnents so they used what they could. LM was just sort of another book. I like the new cover. I really like the new cover.

So I can't put a little Illithid tadpole into your ear? Awww, when it eats your brain and you Become One Of Us, it isn't so bad. Brains taste good.
