The bard, in any shape or form. This class has been ignored in relation to all other base types. Although it goes a few steps away from the posed question, the lack of thought given to making something available for the epic bard is the prime example.

I could see a case made for most of them. Here's just a few I think are missing:

Non-LG, non-spellcasting holy warriors
Summoners
Skill using explorers that aren't "dirty fighters" (sneak attack)
Non-supernatural martial artists

I have to agree here. I think the bard is too tied to the "musical" stereotype and I'd like to see the class expanded or redefined. I'd like to see more things like the Master of the Secret Sound prestige class that was in Dragon a long while back - still sonic-based, but not necessarily song-based and just an interesting class all around.

Cool bards. Maybe I just loved the Complete Book of Bards too much from early days, but there were some great concepts in there for bars, and I think WoTC, and Mongoose and a few others have fallen short in making the Bard cool again like some of those 2nd ed Kits did back in the day. Ah, the glories of the Gallant and other intersting twists to the bard type.

I'm actually kind of content with Dragonlance's stable of classes. We have a spontaneous divine spellcaster (mystic), a Charisma-based skills and contacts character (noble), a lightly-armed skillful fighter (mariner), and a multi-purpose dedicated skill character (master). The master specializes in either Perform, Knowledge, Profession, or Craft, and together with the noble handles a lot of roles that would otherwise end up going to the rogue or an NPC class.

I'm biased, of course, since I created the master for the War of the Lance sourcebook, but I'm still very pleased with it.

Cheers,
Cam

Other. I'd like to see a good dedicated shapeshifting class. It's a bit strange that it takes quite a few wizard or druid levels (which include many superfluous abilities) to have a character on par with Ergo the Magnificent from Krull .

Every skill dudes. Except the rogue and his trap business, they could get rid of a lot of skills that can be replaced by simple level 1 spells.
