I have compared all of the others, save for 4CtF, which the preview alone turned me against. I doubt seriously that I would get 4CtF, since the mechanics and the completeness of DNW fills all that I like in a supers rpg. I have played many of the supers rpgs out there, save for maybe those put out in the last year or three, and DNW holds its own against all of them.

For the record, I have played/read: Vigilance, Paragon, Foundation (Yuck!), Silver Age Sentinels (the preview rules, both systems), 4CtF (preview, as stated), Champions, Champions: New Millenium, GURPS Supers, Marvel (all versions), DC (the older WEG version, not the newest one that is out), Heroes Unlimited, V&V, the various Fuzion Supers plug-ins, um... I know I left out a few.... but you get the idea.

Fair enough. What was it about the preview that you didn't like?

I have DNW for d20 and I am very happy with it. I might get 4CtF but DNW was the first PDF I have ever gotten and while I really like the game I am not a huge PDF fan as I really like just going and buying a book I guess (to old and crusty to change).

BTW who is putting out Atomic City? I have heard about it somewhat in the past and was kind of interested in checking it out.

For other supers games I have SAS (tri-stat), Champions/Hero BBB and FErd, V&V (1st & 2nd ed), Marvel Supers (original), DC (3rd MEG), and a few others that I can't for the life of me remember why I got. Anyway while I run a Hero FErd game right now it is with ONLY hardcore old-school Hero fans. I dread with a passion trying to teach a person the system and I have do a lot of little things to change the rules to speed up stuff (speed chart GONE; killing attacks have a stun mult of x3 base, no rolling 1d6-1; etc). It is just not that great to get new people into the game nor is it very fast (ok it is soooo slow). I am going to try out a game with weekend with DNWd20 and it should be fun. Next week I am playing in a SAS game and I am really looking forward to that also (first game in that system)

D'oh

Well ah deadlands ah... well many factors... first my computer crashed... second for almost a month I could not sign onto the EN boards... then it was working on and off... then I went on vaction to the Philippines to visit my wife's family (we go once a year) and well then I am now sort of back...
ALL I can really say is that I am REALLY sorry that it feel apart. It was all my fault and I was discourage enough that I never picked it back up and I still feel bad about it :(

Don't worry about it. I was enjoying it, but I've been pretty busy myself. No hard feelings. In any case I got some cool NPCs I can use.

I have DNW and Laying the Smackdown, for 10 bucks you get more than your money's worth. Scott has made a game better than lot of "official" d20 stuff out there. It has got to be the slickest d20 game out there. I wish you could buy it in print but pdf is ok and it could use more artwork other than that it ROCKS!
Silver Age Sentinels looked too generic and Mutants and Masterminds looks good but isn't d20 and you don't get enough content for the price.
As for 4CTF, I didn't like the artwork and from the previews/reviews it seemed the powers were unfinished. I did like the fact you could "drag n drop" the classes into a fantasy game but the classes seemed like there isn't a big diversity.

Do yourself a favour, drop the $8 on it and you will find that only one class is the key to the true diversity. The Hero classs only give you Hero Points, and with them you can fully customize your character. Seriously.

If you want an example, go to my story hour (link at the signature) and you will find four fully developped characters.

Well, I can't argue with you about the artwork - I like it, but you have the right to your opinion. I'd say that, for me, it's not a good way to dismiss a rules system, though. But then artwork is very low in my list of priorities when it comes to a game book. I haven't seen DNW, but I think I'd better have a look and see what sort of art is in there. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "unfinished" powers? As in, each one is incomplete, or that there aren't enough of them? We're releasing it as two separate books, admittedly, because most people don't like big PDFs (we have 70 powers in the main book and will have 100 ish in the next). Again, that wouldn't be a factor for me when choosing a rules system, but you have the right to your opinion of course.

As for classes - there are no classes other than the Hero class. You get points and spend them how you wish. It's the most diverse way of using classes that I can possibly imagine! In fact, the Hero class is only one way of doing it - you can simply buy powers with XP or you can use templates. It's not, really, a class-based system: it's merely designed to be used alongside one.

I'd urge you to check it out, unless the art and 2-book setup really matter to you.
