Which member of the Fellowship would you aspire to?

Thinking of the Fellowship of the Ring, which of the members of the Fellowship would you aspire to be like? Which member of the fellowship has the characteristics which you would most like to possess?

And if you'd be prepared to give a reason for your answer...

He fell victim to the power of the ring at the end, but I've always had a soft spot for Gondor's greatest captain, and Sean Bean's portrayl of him in the movie only enhanced that notion.

I really like the characters loyalty above all else, and it is a quality I aspire to myself. He's not the bravest, or the cleverest, or the best looking, but he's true to his friends, cheerful and sticks with them no matter what.

Perhaps I identify with his simple nature too

I would say Gandalf.

Not for "uber-munch."

I would choose Gandalf because of the WAY he acquired his knowledge and influence and respect - not by force or coercion or displays of power, but rather by "walking amongst the people" and being kind and good. Everyone knew him to be wise and good because he was a friend to all.

I want to be the type of person where when I die, the world - on an individual basis, not collectively - mourns the loss of one of its noblest, kindest, and wisest friends.

Suprisingly few votes for Frodo and Gimli... Has Gimli been influenced by the "comic touches" in the movies I wonder?

Had you asked which character I'd like to play in a D&D game, it would be Gimli. I love dwarves... the whole close family bondedness, work ethic, etc.

But as to who I would aspire to be IRL? Gandalf.

Frodo. I would love to have the courage to face the ultimate evil even though I am small, insignificant and ill prepared.

I said Sam because I would love to be THAT selfless and loyal...

Realistically I'm like Boromir (not that I aspire to be like Boromir) because I feel in my heart that my family deserves better than the others around me. I am evil at heart, but I dress it nicely and feel that everyone should be treated better than they are, and we shoudl be treated better than that.
