Which rules are 'flavour' rules?

Arcane Spell Failure for armor.

Whoa - you really think so? You don't think magical full plate and a large shield, granting up to a total possible +20 to armor class, makes any difference for the wizard, sorcerer, and bard beyond flavor?

But hong, is such a multiclass worth it?

As for alignment restrictions - I think that since levels of paladin and monk can't be used with levels of barbarian or bard, that alignment restrictions are for more than just flavour.

It's to stop powergaming combos.

Likewise with the multiclassing rules discouraging taking a mere level of paladin or monk.

Heck, yeah. +1 BAB, +4 Fort, +2 Ref, +2 Will, Cha bonus to saves, evasion, detect evil at will, and immunity to disease? I'll take that. The Wis bonus to AC doesn't synergise well with the pal's armour proficiencies, but it's still nice as a freebie.

Likewise with the multiclassing rules discouraging taking a mere level of paladin or monk.

However, these classes are front-loaded enough that one level is all you really need.

*spell book scribing costs
*prestige classes (which or even if)
*which options - e.g. apprentice multiclassing, PC access to NPC classes, size dependent massive damage thresholds, insta-kill, etc.
* which classes beyond the basic four (fighter, rogue, cleric, wizard)
* psionics (or not)
* ELH support (or not)

The druid's weapon oaths ought to be removed or at least changed. As is, a druid breaks his vows if he uses a longbow. Strange, if you ask me.

Re

The Wis-bonus to monks' AC and Cha-bonus to paladins' saving throws have to be the reason that these two classes are discouraged form multiclassing.

D&D does rely somewhat on the discretion of the players. I would hate for the game designers of WotC to design games as though we were all 2 year olds who must have our hands slapped because we min/max too much.

I'll agree with the rest of them except this one; beware a slight weakening of the attractiveness of the sorcerer class if wizards scribe new spells into their spell books cheaply. If wizards scribe cheap, the sorcerer should really get about one extra spell from spell levels 1-5 at the high-character-level end of the spells known chart, IMO.

--One more to add: Rangers cannot use double-headed weapons with their virtual ambidexterity and 2weapon fighting feats.

Other than that, there aren't really a whole lot more that are "flavor only."
