Which spell-like ability did you ask Santa for this year?

Control Weather and start mitigating droughts and floods.

I would also like to have genesis, the psionic power that creates planes, to make lots of money (vacation spots for the rich) and to help colonize space (farms accesible from the moon or Mars). Heck I would use the money and a travel based plane to draw millions to live on Mars and decrease the Earth's population in pleasant manner.

Miracle. Replicate most other spells without an XP penalty, and save very large numbers of lives by preventing natural disasters. Of course, to prevent myself from running out of the XP that allows me save millions of lives, I would have to occasionally kill my neighbors and take there stuff. Its all for the greater good.

SLAs have no XP cost.

On the other hand, I'd be interested in finding out if there really ARE supernatural entities in the world, so Gate might not be a bad one. And assuming D&D monsters exist, I could always Gate in a low HD creature with Wish that I could control.

And Gate can be used to go to alternate planes as well (and two uses gives you teleport without error). Note also that you can summon things from the material plane by being on another plane (you could start an exotic animal business, perhaps).

Or that Rejuvenation spell mentioned earlier.

Took all the way to post #6 to get mine: shapechange. I'm surprised!

If I had to go low level, Aganazzar's scorcher would be a good one. IRL, no one has fire resistance. Or if I wanted to be more practical, I'd stay in the same sort of arena with alter self or 3.0 polymorph.

Are you sure you have the 5k xp necessary to make use of it? If not, you better join a mercenary group and build up your experience first!

For myself, Prestidigitation sounds about right . . . (Or "Minor Wish" as it is also known.)

Discern lies. I'd love to be able to know when people are lying to me. Detect thoughts could also be put to the same application.

If I was going to be a jerk... I'd go with major image. I could so use that spell in every day life, the applications are virtually limitless.

Okay, maybe not. Mending would be cool. Invisibility would be okay. Fly would be nifty. Overland Flight would be better. Polymorph any Object would be broken. Wish, if you believe the movies, would suck. Karma'd get you good.
