Which video game company do you prefer?

I feel sorry for this thread, so I'll answer first. (Hopefully it won't sie a sick sad death.)

For the old stand up Arcade variety - it's hard to be Taito. they had some of the most innovative titles across the board.

Console - Probably Square/Enix (And I'm not even a fan of Final Fantasy)

PC - 2K/Creative Assembly - hands down.

Yeah, usually when coming up with polls its best to write down the options before hand then copy pastaing them into place.

It's really hard to say which game company I like the best since I tend to go through phases.. For a while, square, rockstar and blizzard were up there on my list of favorites but they seemed almost hamstringed into certain franchises or genres due to past successes.

Despite their lackluster showing for Elemental, I prefer Stardock. Their policies towards Friendly PC gaming and the input they put into their forums with their fans (they actually talk to and respond to fans) puts them at the top of my list.

Next would probably be Paradox, though not quite as friendly as Stardock, they put in an effort into friendly PC gaming unless their compatriots that work on a game with them decide to be unfriendly.

As for consoles, changes with the wind. Currently it's Bioware. They also frequent their forums, though they have an on again off again friendly relationship with their PC gaming (some say they are becoming much less friendly for PC's with DAII...with their slant more towards consoles these days...but that's why they are also my current favorite for console games, what is good for consoles may not be good for PC's). They seem slanted to make games more targetted towards the mass console market. They refine their games (Mass Effect 1 was slanted more towards RPG gamers...but the normal console gamer like me really hated some of the aspects like planet exploration, too many stats and skills...etc...which is Computer RPG gamer heaven...and casual gamer hell...so when Mass Effect 2 is out it got refined and was completely AWESOME...etc. etc. etc.) and talk to their fans as well as getting feedback and observing how and what their games are played in what fashion.

I'd have to go with Boiware, I have yet to play anything of there's I don't like and any other company makes some games that don't appeal to me or has too diverse a catalog for me to say the same thing.

That and I absolutely love most of Bioware's games.

For me, I love BioWare and Lionhead.

With BioWare, the great stories and characters are what really make the game for me. And the deep thought they put into their worlds/universes.

With Lionhead, I like the offbeat humor/craziness and clever storytelling. And there's nothing quite like just walking into town as some demon-monster and listening to everyone run away screaming.

Konami. They make the Suikoden series, and tons of other great games across many genres, and have for many years.

I also like Square-Enix, even though I'm not a huge Final Fantasy fan, for lots of other RPGs they make, like Seiken Densetsu 3 (prequil to Secret of Mana, iirc), which I just recently played through, and Chrono Trigger.

Koei is also awesome, they make the Dynasty and Samurai Warriors games, along with Nobunaga's Ambition, Kessen, and other more tactical games. I've always loved beat 'em ups, and Koei's one of the few companies still making a bunch of them, and while they do some creative retelling to make the story not always exactly the same, they still do an admirable job of incorporating history into their games along with (sometimes) an "Encyclopedia" feature to look up what actually happened. Th games helped me learn about the Sengoku and 3 Kingdoms eras and lead me to reading more on those periods.

I haven't played many Sony-made games, but all the ones I have played (such as Legend of Dragoon and Genji: Dawn of the Samurai) have been excellent gems.

I already named plenty, but seriously...no one (or no one else) for Konami, Nintendo, or Sega?!

I should mention this is only because Origin is dead, damn you Electronic Arts!

Meh, I like stuff by all of them, but there's plenty of stuff they make that simply doesn't interest me or is to outdated for me to actually like. Same goes for Capcom.
