I started in 82. I found out about it in a scholastic magazine when I was in 3rd grade. The article had pictures of miniatures and everything. When I got the basic red box, I was disappointed it didn't have the cool miniatures, but the pictures and maps were cool, and I learned to play as only a 3rd grader could. I guess there's a reason for the age limit on the box...

It was NOV 25, 1978. It was my birthday and my mom got me the game for my birthday. Oh how she regretted that for many years. I still have it tucked away, now I have thousands o books but I still keep that old copy of the basic rules.

I was a young PFC newly arrived at the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, CA. I now work across the street from the barracks that I learned to play in. Unfortunately, my gaming group is currently deployed in Iraq. Hopefully, they will still be stationed here when they get back.
