Whirlwind and Heavy Armor ...

Rashak Mani

First Post
Whirlwind requires Spring Attack feat to be chosen.... Spring Attack cant be used when wearing Heavy Armor... so should Whirldwind as well be unusable with Heavy Armor ?

It would make sense. If you lose access to a prereq, you lose the feat, and Spring Attack is a prereq for Whirlwind Attack.

Hopefully we'll get some more opinions after everybody wakes up.

You dont lose acess ... you just cant use it...

Semantics. Let me put it another way. If you have the Power Attack feat, and your Strength drops to 12, you can no longer use Power Attack, or anything that relies upon it, until your Strength gets back up to at least 13.

If you lose the ability to use Spring Attack, then technically, you lose the ability to use Whirlwind Attack.

No, it's not semantics.

You no longer meet the prerequisite for power attack, therefore you lose access to it. It's not that you can't use your strength, you strength has actually been reduced.

No, technically you don't lose the ability to use Whirlwind attack.

You still have the Spring Attack feat, even if you can't use it at the moment. Therefore you still meet the prerequisites for Whirlwhind Attack, and Whirlwind Attack doesn't have any armor limitations.

If your Int is reduced to less than 13 you would no longer meet the prerequisites for Expertise, and that would mean you no longer meat the prerequisites for Whirlwind. If your Dex drops below 13 you can no longer use Dodge, Spring Attack, Mobility, or Whirlwind.

It's the difference between having something and not being able to use it, and actually losing something.

That's what I said.

I see what you mean about the armor. Makes sense.

I dig it. I don't often found myself in a situation where it's beneficial to use, but when those situations do come up, it's nice to have.

Two Opponents already make it worthwhile no ? 2 Attacks at Maximum not secondary to hit with -5.

As for Caliban... his opinion is the "Law" in this Board... :)

Hehehe. I'm gonna be nice and leave that one alone. :)

EDIT: Nah. I can't resist.

Does he have a good grasp of what he's talkin' about? Yes. Is his opinion law? Not when he's wrong. :D
