I've been looking at this race, but the thing is i was wondering what was the point of having both dark vision and low light vision?

One's for low light and the other is for darkness? Darkvision is usually out to 60 feet, and under the influence of a daylight spell, low light vision can be out to 240 feet. There's no reason you shouldn't have both.

Sometimes it's nice to see more than 60 ft out. Low-light will almost always let you see farther.

Also, if there are light sources in the distance, like an enemy group with torches, the low-light will make the "aura of visibility" created by those distant light sources doubled to you, effectively, which can also be good for seeing more of what's ahead.
