white wolfs new Vampire: The Requiem

I for one will probably not bother picking up the N.O. book as I've started creating my own city because of the delay.

Well, remember, the whole point of the appendix is to give you, as ST, enough to work with. If you've chosen to focus your creative efforts elsewhere (in this case, London), that's cool, but then it was your choice. There's more than enough in the appendix to tide you over until CotD:NO.

I just cannot see the logic behind the decision to push it back 9 long months.

Actually, CotD: New Orleans was pushed back only six months. Still not chump change, but not quite so long a wait. In any event, I certainly share your pain. Getting all excited about the prospect of a book, and then having to wait even longer before you can get said book, is without a doubt frustrating. Unfortunately, all I can do is encourage you to pick it up when it does come out, and to point you to the corebook appendix in the meantime.

Thanks for the interest.

I'll second pretty much all of what C.A. said. This was, indeed, a very collaborative effort. I know I wrote some of the society of the damned stuff, a few of the clans, a few of the sects, some of the disciplines, half the appendix... But we've also got a section here and a paragraph there, and some of the stuff in "my" sections isn't actually mine.

As regards rescheduling, well, sometimes things happen beyond the bounds of anyone's control. I hope that when the book does come out, you'll have decided that the material presented in the appendix is at least interesting enough to encourage you to look at the NO book.

At least the rescheduling isn't as bad as Palladium.

But then, nobody is.

Should we expect to see any Texas cities detailed? I would love to see Dallas, Austin, San Antonio or Houston as city books.

Steve

No such plans that I'm aware of (though that doesn't prove anything). I'd like to see that, too, since I live in Austin now, and lived most of my life in Houston.

Closest we've come so far was, I used bits and details of one of my Houston-set chronicles as "non-canon" examples in the Storytelling chapter of The Gilded Cage, first book I ever worked on in a professional capacity. No idea if we'll see anything on 'em in the new WoD.

Thanks for the response. I've read the Appendix - It was the first thing I read after the introductory story excepts at the front of the book. Yes I was that interested in running a game in New Orleans! :) Lets face it the New Orleans setting is damn cool - a good reason why it is going to be the first city book. You say there is enough to get on with in that appendix, but in it you refer to the citybook a fair bit (from what I remember). Depressingly, the V:tR book refers to the citybook just a little too much too in what I read at that time, that is where I think WW shot themselves in the foot. They've got fans hyped about a city in the core book and then decide to release it months originally planned.

I guess we will still pick up the book on the shelves and leaf through it though! Could you tell us if the appendix material is going to be repeated in the citybook?

That's true, the Appendix does indeed refer to the core book. We only had a limited amount of word count to work with, and enough ideas to fill an entire book. (Obviously. ;)) The material in the Appendix doesn't offer all the city's secrets, but it should be enough to build a New Orleans chronicle with.

As for "deciding" to release the book months later, let me say again. Sometimes things happen that nobody can anticipate. I don't know all the details, and it would be inapproprate (and possibly illegal) for me to talk about the details I do know. Just keep in mind that some "decisions" are forced on people, rather than being undertaken because anyone wants them.

Repeated? No, not directly. That's an awful lot of word count to pay for twice, when we could offer new and additional info and story hooks. :)

Ari and I shared both the Disciplines/Devotions chapter and the New Orleans appendix (and are writing the citybook, too)

And here I was planning on not getting that, anymore purchasing revisions I should make?
