Interesting, because I approach it from the same starting place - my gaming time is very limited - and come to quite a different result. With so few hours of gaming available, I will not let the system keep me from playing a game with good people.
Oh, I didn't say my gaming time is very limited - I said my time is very limited. That's referring to my entire entertainment/social/free time.

I think my personal difficulty is learning entire new systems - that can be tough for me. I LOVE changing settings/genres.

As an example, I once spent a year trying to shoehorn a more traditional fantasy setting into D6 Star Wars - never quite got off the ground, though. D20 has been a dream in that regard.

Given my choice of systems, I'd play D&D, hands down. That being said, if I trusted the GM to run a good game, I'd try just about anything.

If I'm running a game it's going to be D&D, I like the ruleset and the paradigm. I might be convinced to run a D20 game in some other milleau but I don't know how much I'd enjoy it.

I would not play F.A.T.A.L. with anyone (or allow anyone who LIKED that game into my home).

Other than that I'm open to almost anything.

I care.
Deeply.

Clay, I really care. I don't want you to think I don't care.

Here, I care so much, I'm going to give you a token of my appreciation.
