Who is interested in playing a 100th level adventure anyway.

Would you be interested in playing a 100th level adventure?

  • Certainly not, I refuse what I see as an idiotic idea!

  • I would probably try it once, if given the opportunity.

  • Oh certainly yes! I always craved to try such a game!

I'll try almost anything once. :)

I do agree with seeing little point in it on a long-term basis, because I'd need a computer to track the numbers-crunching on a regular basis! Can you imagine just a 100th level cleric?

100d8 + 1000 (30 CON) = 1450 hit points on average!

Epic spells that do hundreds of hit points of damage!

+15 weapons of Disruption that do somewhere like 1d8+3d6+30 damage per hit!

The mind boggles.

I understand the reluctance of most readers...yet... I think we should try to write all together, a monstrously epic adventure that would try to not be just a +50 to every DC and +30d6 to all damage done.

I am still hoping for clues. Anyone an idea of trap, monster tactics, absurd plot, room of a dungeon, whatever?

That's very difficult. When you think of a monster and want it "better" than the last, you usually either boost its "numbers", give it more abilities to use, or try to think of one NEW ability which beats the available abilities. But 9th level spells and MM special abilities already let you
- move to any place imaginable
- be immune to any specific damage or effect
- kill anyone in one shot
- resurrect anyone
- have any question answered

There's not much left to do... you can of course improve the chance of success, but it's difficult to add something which isn't already included in non-epic games.

You can always think of a bigger monster, with more Hp and who does more damage, with better saves and SR. The point is that you have to give the characters the same boosts to keep up with such opponent. But it's not different to have +20 attack vs AC 40 compared to having +50020 attack vs AC 50040 :)

I tried to think of a trap for instance, but I cannot. I could only picture a trap who springs faster, or has more blades, or with a stronger spell, etc. At best I could picture a trap so complicated that it requires a player to think of 6-8 different actions to avoid/disable it, but that has nothing to do with being high or low level.

*Every combat (If you could afford the risk of it, meaning, the slug-ooze speed of combat) would be won by the one who won initiative.
*Spellcasters would destroy the world on a whim.
*Too much work, wich magic items or positions of power can attract 100th level PCs?

*Does it seem clear I'm against it?

Well, at this power level, some sort of magic is probably involved.

Even with magic traps, it's still difficult to think of something.

A non-epic trap already can kill the victim. What can you add to that? :D You can say that "it tears your body into little pieces while slowing your time so that you experience a 1000 year-long death, then takes your soul to visit each layer of the abyss to be tortured etc. etc....", but the effect is still the same: your PC is dead.

You can make the trap kill more characters, you can raise its save DC, you can make it more difficult to search, but it's still the same trap. :)

You can only really improve it with description, but that can be done even at level 1.

I think the main interest of playing such kind of characters, is to play Earth-shaking uber powered heroes who can tackle demon-prince and prevent the galaxy to eventually collapse into a black hole.

Personally I am not adverse at trying it, if only as a tribute to my munchkin teenage days. However, running it in 3.5e can only be a nightmare... :\

I'm sure you were expecting me, I started all the 100th level crap :o

Anyway, I was just going through my old modules and ran across the H4 The Throne of Bloodstone and wanted to know if it was feasible.

I think it would be kind of fun to create one, if to to prove how absurd the rules can get. I was just going to convert the H4 module, but I would be willing to throw that idea out of the window to create a completely different module with the ENWorld community.

With DMII and rules for mobs of dragons and the like, and the guy who posted the immortal rules I think you could make a very challenging adventure, even for obsurd 100th level 3.5 characters.

You might not even play it, you might just look at it and say, "what the f*ck" but I think everyone has had one game that went the way of monty hall and I think it would be fun to try, if I can get others past the wise cracks that is:p

I voted that I would probably play a(n?) 100th level adventure, but I cannot possibly conceive the threat to the PCs... Maybe they take on all the gods at once?
