Between all my books and free content on the web already

Well, if you refer to the stuff that's available on Wizards' website, wait whether they won't pull that out and put it into the paysite instead.

If there's a solid character generator, a monster stat generator (for templates, adding class levels, and advancing monsters), a calculating spellsheet maker, hyperlinked rules (like a d20srd.org but with "everything" instead of just the open content), constant revision and updating and correcting, a wiki/messageboard/e-mail tool for my gaming group, a "find a game" or "find a player" type service, dice rollers ... I could be very interested in that.

You know, that could be very cool ... sort of an E-tools on steroids. But if they are going to make E-tools on steroids, I'd rather a one-time fee, or pay for software, than any sort of monthly pay-for-access format.

I'm happy my copy of E-tools sits dumbly on my desktop, and doesn't charge me when I'm not using it, nor does it go away if I stop paying or the rights get pulled.

I said Too early to tell. However it will have to be BETTER than the combined Dungeon and Dragon magazine for me to subscribe. Specifically, I am hoping for a fully functional virtual online tabletop as well as content that at least matches the quality of Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

I'm willing to wait and see. The potential is interesting, but WotC needs to get on the ball and actually tell us something substantive concerning what it's all about.

Too early to tell but put me in the camp that says portability whether it be pdf's mirroring the online content (like they have now) or some other downloadable format...

I'm going to wait and see. Perhaps I'll like it. But only if they top the bar (i.e. Dragon and Dungeon combined).

Or if they're doing something like Baur's Custom Adventure, just with new products and the eventual 4E - an "Custom D&D" would totally rock my boat. If they're doing something of that calibre... but I don't expect it.

So, the jury is out. And the jury is still a bit enraged.

I couldn't pay it (No Credit card) if I were interested, and I'm not - anything I need for gaming has to be on paper, as we've taken to playing in a castle ruin recently :)

Nope, I have no interest in an online magazine. I like to chat to folks on message boards, follow movie news and the like, but when it comes to my gaming materials I want something I can read on the loo, in the bath etc, etc...and I have less interest in electronic gaming tools.

If I won't use it when it's free, no way I'm going to pay for it.
