I voted "Mostly casters - Like P.E." but really I think there should be another set of options; "Even mix of casters/noncasters - like/dislike P.E." I really love magic-wielding classes in all sorts of fantasy games, but not to the exclusion of other archetypes.

Maybe, but I'm not so sure about that. I'm concerned that that turning every class into a "spellcaster" mechanically is going to make NPCs a nightmare to run, especially in groups.I'm not sure how this is an example of "streamlining "the game.
They've already said many times that there will be different rules for PCs and NPCs/monsters. Just because the party's fighter has maneuvers to use and stances to stand in doesn't mean that every orc fighter will have that many options, or need those maneuvers and stances to be a viable opponent.

Spellcasters take the most work to run as NPCs, not only because of the increased tactical options, but also because of the numerous mechanical variables that precast spells bring to the table. If every class becomes a spellcaster, I think they'll have to radically alter the mechanics of the game just to keep it from from playing even slower than it already is.
I don't have any quotes to point at, but my gut feeling based on all the other things they've said about 4th is that long-lasting buffs will play a much smaller role in 4e than they do in 3e.

I like per encounter abilities, I am just worried that they will literally be labelled as "per encounter" abilities in 4e. An encounter is not definitive, so I don't like using it as a measure of time. I sincerely hope that per encounter abilities will in reality be "per 10 rounds", "per 10 minutes" or even "per hour".

Hm. Not sure I like that idea. Just seems like more rules to have to remember. Again, not sure how that's supposed to "streamline" the game.
