More bothered about it than what?
You were too quick for the poll. :)

I'm interested if there's any significant bias for/against the new philosophy of emphasizing per-encounter abilities among players who prefer spellcaster/non-spellcasters.

I voted that I'm bothered by it, but that's not really true. What I'm bothered with is that I think they may have gone too far. If 80% if your resources are still there after you use your prepared spells, that's too much left in per encounter or at will for my tastes. I'd prefer about 50%.

I mostly GM (haven't run DnD 3.x in a while, though) and I love the idea. Trying to make spellcasters run out of spells at high levels was a pain, and trying to keep PC spellcasters from sucking at low levels was also a pain.

I think the change frees GMs to use harder, more interesting and exciting encounters instead of wimpy "attrition-based" encounters. The "resource management" would be threat of death rather than trying to make spellcasters consume spells and wands.

I mostly DM. The spellcasters I control rarely last for more than one encounter anyway before my players beat them to the curb and violate them.
So if NPCs only stick around for one fight, I'm wondering if there's gonna be any real difference from my perspective.
But for those occasions when I'm controlling an NPC ally of theirs, I can only hope 4.0 makes running a spellcaster less labor intensive.
