If we're talking game design, I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Greg Gorden yet, the man who designed James Bond, TORG, and Earthdawn (at least significant chunks of each).

As for being cool, since I don't know any of the designers personally I can't really comment on that.

Oh, favorite, I took the question literally. Well, not 'literally' literally, or I'd have to pick the one with lowest body temperature, which I really have no idea about.

Nigel D. Findley? Poor guy, he died of a Heart Attack.

I voted other becuase the list was missing EN World's patron designer:

M Jason Parent (Hellhound)

Come on people, just remeber what Piratecat said:

"The Best.. Designer.. EVER! I'm in awe." - Piratecat

The rest of my list in first name order:

Andy Collins
Bruce R. Cordell
Charles Ryan
Dave Arneson
David Cook
David Pulver
Erick Wujcik
Jeff Mackintosh
Jesse Scoble
Jonathan Tweet
Mark C. MacKinnon
Monte Cook
Skip Williams

"Coolest"? Aren't they all just a bunch of D&D-playing dorks?

I'm gonna go with EGG. We can talk about Monte et al when they've been on Futurama. Which ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

I picked Erik Mona for the Greyhawk content he keeps approving for inclusion in Dungeon Magazine. Keep up the good work, Erik.

And yes, SKR should definitely be on the list. Plus, the poll should have allowed for the selection of multiple choices.

Other Favorites: Dave Arneson, Greg Benage, Mike Mearls, Wil Upchurch, Andy Collins, Darrin Drader, Monte Cook, Bruce R. Cordell, Ian S. Johnston, James Jacobs, and James "The Jester" Sutherland (for Cydra).

Other I (slap forehead) Forgot: Chris Sims, Colin McComb, Ed Greenwood, James Wyatt, Joseph Browning & Suzi Lee (for MMS:WE), Matt Forbeck.

Cheers!
