Just wondering who your favorite game designer is. ;)

I only put in the first dozen off the top of my head.

Forgiveness, please, for anyone I left out.

My selection is also D&D/d20-ocentric . . .

Monte Cook's my favorite, followed by Bruce Cordell, Mike Mearls, and the people at Privateer Press.

Michael "talien" Tresca is also a personal favorite.

Is there supposed to be a poll there?

Yeah, there is now. :)

Who is Michael Tresca? What's he done?

No Sandy Petersen? I think that Call of Cthulhu is a pretty spiffy game. Petersen is in the Hall of Fame too right?

Boo..Hisss.

I like everyone listed + Sandy P!

He did some work on IK (I don't know exactly what) and has a metric buttload of cool stuff on his site. It's mostly d20 conversions of some really nifty stuff like Alien, The Thing, Dark City, Friday the 13th, and so on. He posts on this board under the name talien.

No one: Matt Wilson, because the Iron Kingdoms are what I wanted.
No two: Monte Cook, because noone understands the rules like him.

They would be a great team.

Chris Perkins is one of my favorites.

Also, back in my FR days, I really enjoyed Steve Schend's work but I haven't seen anything that he's done recently.

Ed Stark

I interpreted this as "who puts out game supplements that I like", which left me with James Wyatt, Ed Stark and Andy Collins.

If "cool" = James Dean, then I'd have to say Monte Cook. He went maverick and has been successful at it. Arcana Unearthed has a lot of good ideas, but as a designer he tends to complicate my job as DM. He has too many abilities and feats that are situation specific or only affect certain kinds of opponents. However, as an idea-man, Monte is top notch.

Ed Stark and James Wyatt seem to design abilities and feats (and PrC such as Iaijutsu Master) that are easy to DM,play and keep up with the power level of high level games.

And then, the most hated game designer........
