Warren

See there ya go....I was thinking who was writing at that moment, and Warren Bailey slipped my mind, sorry!

Back on topic--some of the people I try and pick up books from:
Monte Cook
Sean Reynolds
Wil Upchurch
Necro boys...Clark and Bill
Jason Parent--see Necromancer's Legacy to see why
Fiery Dragon adventures
Bastion's stuff
Steve Long (HERO)
most FFG items
Atlas
Green Ronin has been on fire lately as well

Blush...

Wooohoooo...I got mentioned by the Great Caltros of Halberg. (Sorry..the name thing is from the other thread...lol)

The big name writers in the d20 field are easy to pick, because they of course have the most or best stuff out there and get noticed the most because of this. I like looking for the lesser known writers, or the ones that dont get any fanfare.

Two of the ones that I have come across and like a great deal are Bret Boyd and Charles Plemons III. They are really good writers and should definitely be taken notice of.

Great job to everyone.

That's actually one of the reasons that I started this thread. I know the "big names," and I have most/all/a lot of their stuff (because it's generally excellent) -- but it's interesting when some of the lesser-known folks crop up in a thread like this.

I'm hoping this thread will stick around and continue to grow, because it's always worthwhile to see who others think is making great contributions to the pool of d20 products and material -- be it the big names or the little guys. For a while, I bought mainly by company (still do, to a certain extent), but once I started to notice the same names cropping up in the credits of products I enjoyed, I started paying a lot more attention to who wrote what. Thus far, that has proved to be well worth doing.

Thanks for all the responses so far -- keep them coming. :)

(Edit: typos. Man, I've been a sloppy typist lately. :o)

Personally, I think some of the more notable "up and comers" are: Bret Boyd, Charles Plemons, Darrin Drader (who is becoming quite established), and Jeffrey Quinn. I also think Blaine Seitz, Duane Nutley and David Jones have some real potential once they get a little more work into the field. :)

It is pretty tough for a new name to break into the collective consciousness. I'm also a follower in the Cook, Mearls, Upchurch, etc. crowd. But I've taken notice of folk like Kenson, Creech, and Knauss who have crept into my view since 3e. If nothing else, the OGL has made it possible for us "little guys" to bring our unique views to the public.

Thanks again for the notice and we'll keep doing what we're doing as long as the hobby is around. :)
