Who would you rather have making D&D?

I say give it up to public domain completely. Create some volunteer organization comprized of all the major game publishers, sort like w3c, to come up with standardized rules that everyone can use. Make the rules freely available, and just publish modules/adventures/settings.

what's with all the folks wanting gygax to come back?

no offense to the original Dude himself, but united airlines isn't doing so well, and noone suggests that orville and wilbur wright step in to save the day.

(leaves room bowing in col pladoh's direction, very grovelly)

(edit to show awesome respect to the man who brought us flight)

I think he has the best grasp of what I want D&D to be. That's just me though. Monte Cook's pretty much on the money as well.

then bring himback to write, or head the creative team, but despite all the nastiness we hear bean-counters exist for a reason. they can be evil, just like any n.p.c., but they can be patient understanding bean counters too.

Oh I'm not talking in any buisness sense, just in atmosphere & gameplay areas. The 1e books, and a lot of his modules gave the feel I'm looking for in D&D.

Option one: Monte Cook, Skip Williams, and Jon Tweet, because nobody knows 3rd edition better.

Option two: Swords & Sorcery, because they'd do a good job, they're part of an RPG company that's gotten large (for an RPG comapny) but still knows how to be an RPG company, and because I'd get to work on it. :D

Option three: EN World as a bunch of stockholders, who would then hire those in Option One to run the game. Hey, there are thousands of us, if we pass the hat... ;)

I think THEY should buy it. After all THEY control everything anyway...

Plus, it means we'd all get to wear tin-foil hats to play our homebrews :)

This is so....simple.

Let's make it happen.

Here. Now.
